Highlights From March 20, 2001

Program Review - Cochrane High School
In early January, trustees voted to conduct a program review of Project Excellence at Cochrane in response to concerns raised about the program from parents and the community. Project Excellence is currently the only program of its kind within District School Board Ontario North East and features individualized programs and classrooms organized as learning centers.

Following a study of the program review results provided to the board in early March and in response to a presentation by the Cochrane Emergency Committee voicing their concerns about the program, trustees voted that effective September 2001, Cochrane High School will be completely organized in a regular structured system on a semester basis for students from grades 9 to 11 inclusive. Administration will also study the viability of incorporating the current grade 12 and OAC students into the structured system versus having them complete their studies in an individualized setting separate from grades 9 to 11.
