K.L.C.V.I.

Trustees passed a resolution stating that the replacement of Kirkland Lake Collegiate and Vocational Institute in Kirkland Lake would be a top priority with District School Board Ontario North East.

Outdoor Education Program

At the June 28, 2001 board meeting trustees voted in principle to establish an Outdoor Education Program as soon as possible and utlize the Camp Bickell Site. With this in mind, a committee was formed consisting of Nancy Pedersen, Corinne Miller, Rosemary Pochopsky and Charlotte Johnson, the Superintendent responsible for Curriculum and staff members yet to be named to work together and bring this initiative to the students of District School Board Ontario North East as soon as possible.

Matachewan Public School

At the March 20, 2001 Board meeting trustees voted to close the Matachewan Public School and have students from there transported to Elk Lake Public School. A motion was brought forward at this meeting to formally declare Matachewan Public School surplus to the needs of the board.
