About Our School:
Englehart Public School serves 200 students from one main language group speaking English as their home language with a few families having French as an additional language. The school operates Special Education withdrawal and classroom resource support for students with modified and/or accommodated programs and an Autism/Special Needs classroom. Two Special Education Teachers are on staff. We have a Music Teacher for grades JK to 8 and instrumental music is taught to students in grades 6-8. Core French is taught in JK to 8. There are several support staff members as well: a secretary, four Educational Assistants, a head custodian, and two cleaners. Several community groups use meeting space and the gymnasium after hours and in the evenings.
School priorities include a focus on literacy as well as numeracy, cross-curricular approaches to instruction, and differential instruction. Many new materials and resources have been purchased and extensive professional development for staff has occurred centered around these foci. The staff and students value a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including a sports program, school teams, and lunch-time clubs. Englehart Public School is continuing the Balanced School Day schedule, which offers students more opportunity for meaningful block instruction, longer nutritional breaks, and vigorous outdoor play.
Englehart Public School continues to have a good partnership with the School Council, with all working hard to achieve common goals and to work for the interests of all students in the school. Many parents and friends of the school also assist at many functions and serve as classroom/school volunteers where their expertise and support is invaluable.
